Camp Trips
Join us on one of our camp trips to relax, unwind, and experience everything the Lower Deschutes has to offer. Our camp trips are custom built to match what you’re looking for. We offer two-, three-, and four-day camp trips for up to six anglers on a number of different sections of the river. Starting either above or below Maupin you have nearly 100 miles of river to explore. These trips allow you to really settle into the rhythm of the river and maximize your fishing time throughout each day of the trip. These camp trips are hands down the best way to maximize your time on the water. and that is strongly complemented with some of the most stunning landscapes, lava rock formations, and wildlife this canyon has to offer.
Itinerary
Camp trips start bright and early, shooting for being at our designated launch by 8 a.m. unless otherwise stated by your guide. Steelhead trip meet times will vary depending on sunrise times. After getting your gear loaded into dry bags and off to camp with our support boat we will float and fish our way downriver in some of the more remote sections of the Lower Deschutes. We break for lunch midday then head back out to finish the afternoon off. Our goal is to always camp on a nice piece of fishing water so you have the ability to take advantage of the afternoon trout bite or swing to your hearts desire during steelhead season. On our last day on the river we will fish our way out finishing the trip at the take out around 3 pm.
What we provide
Our camps are full service camps. We have spacious, standing-height two-person tents outfitted with cots, sleeping pads, and a light for our nighttime readers.
The heart of camp will be either a dining tent or large shade wing depending on conditions and time of year. It’s here that you will find the dining table with rolled silverware, iced down water, and a cooler with any beverages you want to bring. This well lit structure is the home of all the fish stories from the day as we sit down to a fantastic multi-course meal prepared by your guides.
Every camp will have a handwashing station for cleaning up at the end of the day. We try to camp in places where BLM provided bathroom facilities are available, but occasionally we camp in an area without a restroom, and for those times we will provide a riverside restroom with a privacy tent.
Our menu changes each year, but we can guarantee you won’t go hungry. All food on these trips is prepared in camp with fresh ingredients. If you have any dietary restrictions make sure to let us know before the trip and we can cater specifically to your needs.
Transportation to and from Maupin is provided. However, if you would like to we can have your vehicle shuttled from the launch to the take out for an additional $100 by our shuttle service. Please be sure to let us know if you would like this service in advance of your launch date so we can make proper arrangements.
We can provide rods, flies, and tippet for the trip, but feel free to bring your own. All anglers will need to bring their own waders and boots, sun protection, and a valid Oregon fishing license. Make sure you purchase an Oregon fishing license online before you come to Maupin. There are no vendors in Maupin selling fishing licenses.
